KARACHI: Ibad orders steps to check crimes

KARACHI, Sept 12: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has emphasised the need for effectiveness of the steps taken against crimes throughout the province and called for strengthening the efforts for immediate response towards crime calls.

Presiding over a high-level meeting at the Governor’s House on Tuesday, Dr Ibad stressed the need for a coordinated and comprehensive strategy to control street crimes.

The meeting was attended by Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi, PPO Jehangir Mirza, Home Secretary Brig (retd) Ghulam Mohammed Mohtaram, Secretary Prosecution Ishaq Lashari, CCPO Niaz Siddiqi, Additional Secretary Javed Hanif, DIG operation, CPLC chief and other officials.

The governor ordered steps to control crimes before Ramazan and Eidul Fitr by making Madadgar “15” more effective.

He directed that a strategy be chalked out within a week for modernisation of “15” and to enable it to respond to complaints in the minimum possible time. Dr Ibad said that it should be developed as a call centre to work under a senior police official.
