ISLAMABAD, Sept 11: The Foreign Office has rubbished media reports that Mullah Omar had been ‘sighted’ somewhere in Quetta. Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said: “In this part of the world, these days we are waiting to sight the Ramadan moon and then subsequently the Eid moon. We have not sighted Mullah Omar anywhere in Pakistan and these are just baseless speculations.”
She rejected another report that claimed Pakistan had agreed to hot pursuit of Osama bin Laden inside Pakistani territory by a US special unit. “These are all speculations. To my knowledge there is no such understanding. We have repeatedly said on the Pakistani side of the border the government of Pakistan is responsible for taking action against terrorists.” She asserted there was no evidence to suggest that Osama bin Laden was hiding somewhere on Pakistan side.—Q.A.
