Two breaches inundate four villages, damage crops

SUKKUR, Sept 11: Four villages and crops on hundreds of acres of land were inundated after two breaches of 30 feet each occurred in Moosa Allah Abad shakh, opposite the Lutuf Abad Village, near Thull early on Monday morning.

As a result, four villages, including Lutufabad, Mohammad Siddiq Khoso, Miral Nau and Haji Jam Khoso, were inundated and crops were damaged.

The affected villagers claimed that over 100 houses were under water and 30 kutcha houses collapsed.

The gushing water, they added, washed away entire households and valuable goods.

The villagers complained that despite being informed, irrigation officials failed to turn up and carry out rescue operation.

The affected villagers were trying to plug the breaches at their own.

WOMAN DIES: A woman was tortured to death by her husband in Waspur Muhalla, in the jurisdiction of “C” section police station, Old Sukkur, on Monday.

The murder is reported to be the outcome of a domestic dispute.

Accused Ghulam Hussain alias Kuraro Shaikh along with his accomplices tortured his wife Gulnaz Shaikh, 22, as a result of which she got serious injuries. The accused fled from the scene.

Later, the injured woman was shifted to the Civil Hospital, Sukkur, where she breathed her last on Monday morning.

Wali Dino Shaikh, father of the deceased woman, registered a case with the area police against four people, including Ghulam Hussain Shaikh, Khamiso, Yousuf and Ghaus Bux, but no arrest was reported.

BOY DROWNS: A minor boy lost his life when he fell into a fish pond in Bashirabad Mohalla, Pano Akil, on Monday.

Shoaib Ahmed, 12, son of Ali Hassan Chachar, slipped and fell into a fish pond while playing outside his house. He drowned and died.

Later, his body was fished out.
