KARACHI: Teachers to observe black day

KARACHI, Sept 11: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association announced on Monday to observe a black day on Sept 15 against ban on teachers union in Sindh, forced leave from services, police torture on teachers rally and registration of false cases.

An SPLA meeting, attended by its central, regional and district organizers and office-bearers in Karachi, decided that teachers in the entire province would perform their duties on Sept 15 by wearing black armbands and resolutions will also be adopted against undemocratic and unconstitutional act of provincial government.

The meeting condemned false allegations against teachers in police amended FIR.

The meeting also observed that transfers of secretaries in education department in light of committee, constituted by the chief minister, was, in fact, endorsement of SPLA's allegation against education minister and the education department.—PPI
