KARACHI, Sept 11: The story of four schools, which are functioning in one compound is a little bit different from the rest of schools in Baldia, and need prompt attention of the authorities concerned.

In Lassi Para (Union Council No 7), four schools are located in one compound where the total number of rooms is 34. However, 20 of them are opened to drug addicts and other anti-social elements.

During a visit, it was observed that a number of youngsters were roaming around the rooms like they were in search of something.

Schoolteachers while talking to Dawn expressed their anger over the movement of such people in the premises of girls schools and demanded of the high-ups concerned to take immediate legal action in this regard.

It was informed that the walls of many rooms had been damaged by some unscrupulous elements.

The main gate of the building has become useless, as anyone can enter the rooms without any difficulty. There is no check on outsiders who use the school ground and classrooms whenever they wish.

The female teachers said in such an atmosphere not only the students but the teachers themselves were insecure. When asked, they said that the authorities concerned were well aware of the problems.

They complained that fans, doors and windows of 24 rooms, grills, water taps, cooler, library books, cupboards, crockery, stationary, office documents and files had been taken away by unknown people. In this regard, they said, no legal action had been taken yet.
