KARACHI, Sept 11: Berthing activity at the wharves on Monday was maintained on the higher side, as port agencies made arrangements to clear the inward rush of container vessels and oil tankers, according to KPT sources.

Five containers vessels and four tankers were berthed, notable among them being Yang Jiang He, Kama Bhum, Thor Captain, Tai He, China Star and Mearsk Arkansas.

Oil tankers were led by Taviland, Al-Marwah, Rising One and Vercity.

Sailing was also active as about a dozen ships departed, including Tower Bridge, Conti Harmony, Yang Jiang He, Kama Bhum, Orient Independence, ASl-Farabi, Taviland, Harutec, Le Li, Al-Marwahn and Marylisa-5.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was fairly active where a total tonnage of 0.175m tons comprising 29,200 tons of export cargo, including 6,668 tons of cement and 0.146m tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Matina, with 12,000 tons of palm oil, Buenos Aries, with containers and Avalon, with steel.
