ISLAMABAD, Sept 10: President General Pervez Musharraf has said the government is persistently pursuing the Quaid’s agenda of building Pakistan on strong footing to fulfil his dream.

In his message on the 58th death anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on Monday, the president said the Pakistani nation paid tribute to Quaid-i-Azam for his sterling qualities of integrity, honesty, courage of conviction and action. With these qualities, the president added, he laid firm foundations of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

He said the comprehensive reforms undertaken by the government in all vital sectors of national life were the testimony of its sincere commitment to Ideology of Pakistan.

PRIME MINISTER: In his message on the occasion, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz stressed the need for following the footprints of Quaid-i-Azam to earn a respectable place in the comity of nations.

“Our government has been endeavouring to translate every ideal of the Quaid into reality and we have introduced a series of reforms in the light of his vision at every level of governance and in all walks of national life. Spread over seven years, our efforts bore fruits. Alhamdo-lillah, there is a marked change in our society,” he added.

He said Quaid-i-Azam was a man of indomitable character — a character that had been praised both by his admirers as well as by his adversaries.

“Today Pakistan is moving fast on its way to self-reliance; our defence is impregnable, our economy is strong and our democratic institutions have taken deep roots and democratic and social norms are valued in the country. The people of Pakistan now take pride in being a Pakistani,” the PM said.—APP
