FIA changes policy about release of deportees

GUJRANWALA, Sept 10: The FIA has changed its policy regarding the registration of FIRs against deportees and they will be released on the guarantee of union council nazims provided they give information about their agents.

This was stated by FIA additional director-general Tariq Khosa while talking to Dawn at his office here.

Mr Khosa made a clean breast that the agency was facing some administrative problems due to the arrest of deportees from Greece, Iran, Turkey and other European countries.

He claimed that the human smuggling graph had come down by 50 percent as to the result of hectic efforts of the Gujranwala circle office.

The official also lauded the efforts of FIA deputy director Akram Naeem Bharoka, assistant director Aqeel Qureshi and other officers and gave them prizes and certificates.

He also handed over the keys of four motorcycles and a pick up to the deputy director for enhancing raids on human agents.

BANNED: The entry of all touts has been banned in police stations throughout the district while a circular has also been issued to all SHOs in this regard.

This was stated by DPO Mian Muhammad Asif while speaking at a meeting held in Nandipur town.

The DPO pointed out that a proposal for setting up police stations in Satellite Town and Sabzi Mandi had been forwarded to the government.

Earlier, Nandipur Town Nazim Rizwan Zafar Cheema announced a cash prize of Rs100,000 for SHO Imran Abbas for tracing the murder case of Peoples Colony nazim and his driver.

DISSATISFACTION: The district justice coordination and criminal committee has expressed dissatisfaction over the police performance for not complying with court summonses.

The meeting was presided over by district and sessions judge Mazhar Hussain Minhas while participants suggested that summonses, in the absence of the accused, should be got complied by heirs who could inform courts about the accused.

The meeting urged the investigating officers to attend the court themselves with the relevant record instead of deputing their juniors to pursue cases.

DPO Mian Muhammad Asif assured the meeting that he would get implemented the committee orders strictly.

DHQ Hospital medical superintendent Dr Javed Akhtar, central jail superintendent Mian Shaukat Ali, SP (investigation) Mahboob Aslam, district attorney Ehsanullah Sheikh and other senior officers also attended the meeting.
