DADU, Sept 10: The 754th annual Urs of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz will begin on September 12 in Sehwan Sharif. The programmes will continue for three days.

The Jamshoro district government said that arrangements had been completed for providing facilities to people reaching here from across the country.

The administration has abolished all taxes on the eve of the urs in Sehwan.

Briefing reporters at his residence in Kotri, District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar said that vehicle tax, shop tax, parking tax and other taxes had been abolished in Sehwan and TMA was directed not to levy tax from zaireen for three days.

He said that during urs different taxes were imposed by district and taluka administration.

Road accidents and drowning in Aral, Danistar and Indus river had claimed 159 lives in the urs last year, hence strict measures would be taken to control road and drowning incidents this year.

He said that section 144 will be imposed to prevent swimming in Indus River, Aral, Danistar and 300 police officials would be deployed at these points.

He said that eight motor boats and 30 life guards would be deployed at these places to face any eventuality.

He said that measures were being taken to control speed of vehicles.

He said that drinking water and drainage had been major problems during urs so special arrangements were taken.
