KARACHI: Bill on women’s rights criticized

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 10: MNA Dr Farida Ahmad, head of the JUP Karachi’s women wing, has expressed concern over the ruling coalition’s stubborn attitude, and deplored that it was bent upon getting the women rights bill passed from the National Assembly for certain political exigencies.

Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Sunday, she observed that the government was taking undue advantage of the support extended to it by certain NGOs and secular forces, and warned that adopting the bill in its present form would be a great tragedy for the nation.

This may also put the prestige, honour and dignity of the next generation at stake, she added.
