MIRAMSHAH, Sept 9: The bullet-riddled body of an old man accused of spying for US forces was found near Miramshah town in North Waziristan Agency, witnesses and officials said on Saturday.

“The man had confessed during interrogation that he spied on the Taliban activities for the Americans”, said a hand-written note found on the body.

The deceased was identified as Rahim Jan, 70, son of Mir Jan, resident of Haiderkhel village of Mirali tehsil. He had been kidnapped from the area about 12 days ago.

“The spy had admitted that the Americans had given him a GPS device, with the help of which he had identified 25 hideouts of the Taliban in the tribal agency”, read the chit.

This is the first incident of killing on the charge of spying for US in the area bordering Afghanistan after signing of a peace agreement between the government and the pro-Taliban local militants earlier this week.
