RAWALPINDI, Sept 9: The Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee on Saturday reviewed defence and security situation in the country.
The committee met at Joint Staff Headquarters with its chairman Gen Ehsan Ul Haq in the chair. The meeting was attended by Admiral Mohammad Afzal Tahir, Chief of Naval Staff; Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed, Chief of Air Staff; Gen Ahsan Saleem Hyat, Vice-Chief of Army Staff; Lt-Gen (Retd) Tariq Waseem Ghazi, Secretary Defence; Lt-Gen Syed Athar Ali, Director-General Joint Staff and Lt-Gen (Retd) Shahid Siddiq Tirmizey, Secretary Defence Production.
At the start of the meeting, an overall view of the defence and security situation was presented before the committee. It recommended certain steps to be taken in this regard by the respective services.
It dwelled on further improving operational and strategic direction of the armed forces and enhancing mutual cooperation and sharing of information between the three services.
