SHIKARPUR, Sept 9: At least eight people were killed and two injured in clashes between Qambrani and Marfani tribesmen in two villages of Shikarpur district on Saturday and Friday.

Seven members of Qambrani and Marfani clans were killed in an armed clash in Ruse and Saleh Issani villages in the Humayoon area on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Abdul Wahab, Mohammad Salah, Mohammad Yaqoob, Shaheen, Dilsher and Mohbat — all Marfani by caste — and Gohram Lashari. Their bodies have been recovered by police.

The Marfanis say that Waryam Marfani and Pappu Marfani have also been killed in the clash but their bodies are missing.

Earlier on Friday night, Amir Bux Marfani was killed and his relatives Nabidad Marfani and Mir Khan Marfani were injured in a clash in Ruse Marfani village.

Police says that both the clashes erupted after the Qambranis attacked the Marfanis.

A heavy contingent of police reached the area on Saturday and controlled the situation. However, no FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.

The motive behind the bloodshed is said to be an old enmity rooted in the killing of a bandit, Toto Marfani, which has claimed 23 lives from both groups so far.

In a separate incident, two men — Sukhio Jakhrani and his son Usman — were killed near the Samundar Gopang village in the Nabi Shah Wagan area on Friday evening.

The motive behind the killing is said to be an old enmity.

The SHO of the Nabi Shah Wagan police has been suspended and reverted for neglecting duty.
