Butter Fly set to shine today

By Anwar Zuberi

KARACHI, Sept 9: Four-year-old chestnut filly, Butter Fly, who was stunned by Adaab Arz in her last outing, is tipped to make amends at the feature event of the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

After completing a hat trick, she finished off the board three times and now seems to have overcome the bad patch which is quite evident from her performance.

Drawn in a small field of six runners, she will be opposed by colt, Jawan Bakht and mare, Countess Mah Again. The latter is on course to make it two-in-a row.

A card of six races all going over a sprinting distance of five furlongs has been chalked out for the day. The first race begins at 2.00pm.

Owner-trained Hot Strides, a three-year-old dark bay colt whose winning run was intercepted by Sindh Malook on Aug 27, is our fancy in the supporting event.

However, he has to overcome challengers Champion Express and Your Honour in a field of 13 contestants.

If all goes well, three-year-old bay filly, Annaba, should pick up spoils by finishing ahead of the field. Her likely challengers are bay horse, Donatello and colt Can’t Catch Me.

Bay mare, Sweet Grandy, should have to bring about her best to beat the lot particularly Al Jarrar and Queen Of Awan while King Of The Field is once again favourite to claim the opener.
