BAHAWALPUR, Sept 9: The Punjab chief minister has granted Rs2 million cash prizes for district police officials for eliminating the Bosan dacoits gang. Bahawalpur range DIG Ghulam Haider Marth distributed cash prizes, commendation certificates and shields among police officials at a function held in their honour at the district Police Lines here on Saturday. DPO Arif Nawaz was also present.

Widow of constable Muhammad Afzal was given away Rs300,000 while ASI Shab Qadar’s widow Rs100,000.

Those received cash prize of Rs100,000 each included, constable Shabbir Ahmed, injured head-constable Abdul Ali, Channigoth injured SHO Muhammad Arif. While Musafirkhana SHO Pervez Iqbal was given away Rs75,000, Ahmedpur East DSPs Mian Irfanullah Rs50,000 and Sheikh Abid Rs30,000. Some 29 other officials received Rs10,000 to Rs20,000.

In addition, scores of police officials were also given away commendation certificates. The local UBL management also awarded shields to DPO Arif Nawaz, City ASP Mahar Zulfiqar and other police officials for unearthing a cyber crime fraud of about Rs30 million in UBL’s Farid Gate branch.

DIG Ghulam Haider Marth and DPO Arif Nawaz also spoke on the occasion.

GRANT: DCO Muhammad Ashraf has announced that a grant of Rs10 million will be given for the renovation of a century-old S.D High School before its centenary celebrations. He said the centenary celebrations would be held in a befitting manner.

While presiding over a meeting of school’s old students association here on Saturday, District Nazim Tariq Cheema sanctioned a sum of Rs5 million out of the total grant.
