KARACHI, Sept 9: As many as 45 people were deprived of their cars, motorbikes or cellphones in various localities on Saturday.
Police sources said that no car was snatched at gunpoint on Saturday but seven four-wheelers were, however, stolen by the bandits. Five motorbikes were snatched at gunpoint and seven others were stolen in different areas.
They said nine people reported that they were held at gunpoint by bandits, who snatched their cellphones, cash and belongings. Seventeen others reported that their mobile phones were stolen.
In different raids, the Anti-Car Lifting Cell recovered two stolen cars and five motorcycles.
The registration numbers of the recovered cars are M-7361 (Suzuki Swift), and AEL-666 (Suzuki Alto), PS Shahrah-e-Faisal. The registration numbers of the motorcycles are HDE-9429, PS Darakhshan, KBR-4104, PS Joharabad, KBB-7965, PS Preedy, KBG-2457, PS Soldier Bazaar and TA-1462, PS Gulistan-i-Jauhar.
KILLED: A boy was killed by a stray bullet in Shireen Jinnah Colony late Friday night.
Police said that Shehryar Masih left his house for buying bread when he was hit by a stray bullet. Police remained clueless to culprits.
ACCIDENTS: A man was killed while two others were injured in road mishaps.
Police said that a motorcyclist Nazeer, 35, was knocked down to death by a speeding bus on Northern Bypass in the limits of Manghopir police station. The victim was the resident of Abdullah Goth. Relatives of deceased refused to hand over the body to police for postmortem. Police impounded the bus and motorcycle. A case was registered against the bus driver.
On National Highway, a motorcyclist Waseem was hit by a recklessly driven pick-up. He was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. The victim was a resident of New Karachi.
