PESHAWAR: Call for curbing interference

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Sept 9: The chairman of the National Commission for Government Reforms, Dr Ishrat Hussain, has stressed the need for evolving policies to curb political interference and undue use of discretionary powers, besides encouraging government servants to benefit from their capabilities in national interest.

He was presiding over a meeting here on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by secretary Cabinet Division Tariq Rahim, secretary Establishment Division Tariq Ali Bukhari, additional chief secretary NWFP Ghulam Dastagir and representatives of all provincial governments.

Referring to promotion of officers, he said that the selection board should give an opportunity to everyone to explain his and her position with regard to the accusation levelled against him and her.

Secretary Cabinet Division Ejaz Rahim suggested that every training and capability-building process should be maintained and evaluated and training cover from government institutions be produced so as to make available the resource cadre for the training of the staff every time.

He said that the management services wing should conduct a social sector review.
