PESHAWAR: Small power units planned

PESHAWAR, Sept 9: The government plans to establish small hydel power stations on the Swat river to meet electricity shortage in the province, says Information Technology and Tourism Minister Hussain Ahmad Kanju.

Speaking at a public meeting at Barra Bandai in Kabal on Saturday, he said implementation of the plan would open new vistas for setting up industries besides promoting tourism.

The minister said the government was trying to create job opportunities for people, adding that ‘revolutionary policies’ had been introduced in health, education and finance sectors .

He said that Sarhad Tourism Corporation had been directed to prepare a master plan to promote tourism, particularly in northern districts.—APP
