UNITED NATIONS, Sept 9: Responding to Israel’s decision to lift the blockade of Lebanon, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has termed it a victory for diplomacy.
Mr Annan said the move would allow Lebanon to press ahead with its reconstruction plan without impediment. I am really pleased that we have all rallied and if the international community continues to pool its efforts, it will succeed, a UN spokesman quoted Mr Annan as having said in a meeting with Spanish officials in Madrid.
