SARGODHA, Sept 8: An anti-terrorism court on Friday handed down death sentence to six convicts in a kidnap for ransom and murder case. According to prosecution, convicts Asif, Kashif (brothers and nephews of victim’s father), along with Tahir, Mukhtar, Pervez and Mazhar, all residents of Toba Tek Singh kidnapped Yasir, 12, from Quaidabad, Khushab district, on June 13, 2006, and demanded Rs6 million ransom. Later, they received Rs700,000 ransom but killed the boy and threw his body in canal at Toba Tek Singh.
Besides capital punishment, the court ordered confiscation of their property.
The court, under Section 302-B of Pakistan Penal Code, also sentenced them to death along with Rs100,000 fine each.
In case of default, the convicts have to undergo three years’ imprisonment each.
Under Section 201 PPC for concealing the body, the convicts were sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment each with fine. In case of default, they have to undergo further imprisonment for one year each.
