Kidnappers of boy arrested

By Our Correspondent

KASUR, Sept 8: Police on Friday recovered an eight-year-old boy who was abducted by his aunt (wife of his father’s elder brother) over a family dispute and arrested her along with her accomplices.

This was said by Kasur DPO Syed Ahmed Mobin in a press conference at his office here.

The DPO said Saqib’s father Rauf Ahmed received about 10 calls from different SIMS, demanding an amount of Rs2 million for the release of the boy. He said the family managed to arrange Rs0.8 million, handed over the money to the kidnappers and got Saqib rescued.

He said the police officials had been deployed in plain clothes when the ransom was given. Mr Mobin said the police did not take action because Rauf wanted release of his son without any risk. He said later Saqib gave some clues following which the police contacted his aunt Fehmeeda and got details of the phone calls received by her.

The DPO quoted Fehmeeda as having said that she got her nephew kidnapped through Naeem Ilyas and Abid Ali to take revenge from her father-in-law. She told the police that her father-in-law did not give her money according to her needs which her husband used to send from Saudi Arabia.

The DPO said the police had arrested the accused and would soon recover the ransom amount from them.

DIG Muhammad Virk has announced commendation certificates for the police team.
