CBR staff threaten agitation

By Mubarak Zeb Khan

ISLAMABAD, Sept 8: The lower cadre employees of the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) have threatened to stage a series of protests across the country, starting from Saturday, against what they called discrimination in award of double salary to a small group of employees.

Already on a pen-down strike for the last couple of weeks, these workers, in BPS-1 to 16, believe that CBR’s discriminating policies have split the workers into elite and ordinary cadres, which is against the spirit of reforms.

Talking to Dawn on Friday, a spokesperson for the agitating group said that a series of protests had been planned at a meeting headed by Hafiz Muhammad Shafiq Tahir, President of All Pakistan Income Tax Welfare Association (APITWA).
