KARACHI, Sept 8: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi said that the genuine problems of the parliamentarians should be solved on priority basis. He issued these directives to the officials while presiding over separate meetings at Liaquatabad and New Karachi towns on Friday.

On the occasion, he felicitated all those town nazims and police officials by whose efforts firecrackers and explosives were seized.

He said that crimes and traffic problems could also be taken care of through mutual cooperation of nazims and police officers.

The home minister said that arrangements had been made to maintain peace on the occasion of Shab-i-Barat and for this purpose town nazims, Town Police Officers and traffic officials would monitor the implementation of steps taken in this regard.

CRIME CELL: The home minister said that the Sindh Police was rendering valuable services towards the elimination of crimes despite shortage of manpower.

He was speaking at a reception hosted by Federal B. Area Industries Association in his honour here on Thursday.

The home minister stressed the need for promoting community policing for wiping out street crimes.

He said that the government was faced with resource constraints and these problems could be solved only with public cooperation and public-private partnership.

The ministers announced the formation of a crime monitoring cell in the industrial area with immediate effect, comprising Gulberg Town Nazim Syed Maood Hayat, TPO Mir Hussain Lehri, SSP Traffic Zone-I Commander Shaukat besides four representatives of the association.

The industrialists immediately announced 20 motorcycles for the cell besides cash donations, provision of space for the cell within the association's compound, telephone connection, wireless set and other necessary equipment.

Donations were also announced for the repair of out-of-order vehicles of Gulberg Town Police for better and effective police patrolling.

Among others, CCPO Karachi Niaz Ahmed Siddiqi, Association’s chairman Rehan Zeeshan, Vice- Chairman Masroor Ahmed Alvi and others also spoke.—APP
