KARACHI: Defence Day at DHA College

KARACHI, Sept 8: The Defence Day celebrations were held at Defence Authority Degree (DHA) College with traditional fervour and enthusiasm here on Friday. On this occasion, a function was held in the college auditorium in which students made speeches, highlighting the significance of national defence and presented exhilarating national songs to pay their tributes to the courage and valour of the heroes of the 1965 War.

The guest speaker Lt-Col (retd) Mukhtar Ahmed Butt TI(M), a veteran of the 1965 war, recounted his rare experiences of the Indo-Pak war and spoke of the exemplary unity demonstrated by the nation with its Armed Forces during the legendary war.

The Principal of the college Capt (retd) PN Ahmed Zaheer in his inaugural address said: “Education inculcates the qualities of tolerance, sharing and trust, which are essential for creation of true national spirit of cohesion. He said even today in times of crisis and challenges, the nation always recalled “the spirit of 1965 war”, which was a testimony of its significance.

The fine arts department of the college organized a poster exhibition highlighting contribution of Pakistan armed forces as an institution to nation-building. The posters made by students depicted graphically the military, air force and navy in action for the defence of the country.

The college library also arranged a display of books in which visitors showed keen interest.
