Student gets presidential award

MULTAN, Sept 7: Raffia Saleem, a student from Multan, will receive the presidential award for education ‘Izaz-e-Sabqat’ on Sept 12. Ms Saleem, who has been nominated for the honour in recognition of her work in the field of environmental protection and awareness for year 2005, will be conferred upon the award by Education Minister Javed Ashraf on behalf of President of Pakistan at a ceremony to be held in National Library auditorium, Islamabad.

She had won consolatory prize in English essay writing competition on drug abuse, while her poem “Ideals” got published in “Letters from the Soul” of “ International Library of Poets” and recorded for “Sound of poetry” featuring the top 33 poems of the world.

She also wrote a book “ABC of environment”, besides doing research work on environment protection.
