KARACHI, Sept 6: The 22nd International English Language Teaching Conference begins here from Sept 8.
The moot is being held under the auspices of the working committee of the SPELT.
Sindh Minister for Women Development Dr Saeeda Malik will be the chief guest at the inaugural session to be held at the Baharia College here.
According to organizers, the theme of the conference is “breaking boundaries: global English”.
The keynote speaker is Dr Rebecca Oxford from the University of Maryland, US.
Dr Rajni Badlani from India, Asma Choudhry (Bangladesh), Dr Tillat Khalid (Canada) besides experts from Hungary, Japan and UK will also be attending this country-wide conference.
In Karachi, this moot will be held from Sept 8 to 10 and will then head for Abbottabad, Multan, Islamabad and Lahore to replicate the conference so that teachers in those regions can participate in Pakistan's oldest English Language teaching event.
Another highlight of this year's moot is its linkage to a meeting of professional teachers' association from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, sir Lanka as well as Pakistan.
They will converge at SPELT House to deliberate on regional ELT issues and strategies for professional development through regional cooperation.—APP
