Canadian trade team to visit Pakistan

TORONTO, Sept 6: A Canadian trade mission is due to leave here for Islamabad on Friday afternoon to explore the possibilities of investments and joint ventures in Pakistan.

The 11-member delegation will hold talks with government officials, industrialists and bankers, with special focus on joint ventures in energy and water purification projects.

During its four-day stay, the Canadian delegation will hold detailed discussions with Board of Investment officials. The members of the delegation will also visit Lahore and Karachi before returning to Toronto on September 17.

The members of the trade mission are: Shirley Townsend, director, South Asia, ministry of economics and developments, province of Ontario; Eric Alexander, president, Ozoklean, a water purification company of Canada which will soon start a manufacturing facility at Jabal Ali free zone, Dubai; Bernard (Bud) Burkom, vice-president, CIBC Woodgundy, the 3rd largest bank of Canada; Binni Rana, director, International Marketing and Eckler Partners, an international consulting company; Imtiaz Seyid, vice-president of RBC, the largest bank of Canada; Lin Armstrong Sharwood, vice-president of Mobile Cube, (water purification company, affiliated with Xenon, a subsidiary of GE); Gordon Sharwood, director of Mobile Cube; Habib Syed, president, Azim Pak Canada, (consulting) representing several Quebec companies; Anwar (Andy), merchant, president of Canada Pakistan-Business Council; Fred Roberts, president of Kingsgate Wealth Management affiliated with Industrial Alliance of Quebec; Ron Caicco, president of Direct Energy, an engineering company.
