Spate of robberies

LAHORE, Sept 5: Bandits struck several times in the city on Tuesday and made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth millions.

Four armed men intercepted Mushtaq near China Chowk in Gujjarpura when he was coming back after withdrawing Rs500,000 from a local bank. They snatched the cash and managed their escape.

Four outlaws riding a car intercepted Javed Iqbal, who was also returning from a bank situated at Akbar Chowk, Township, and deprived him of Rs700,000.

Four gunmen forced their entry into Razia Bibi’s house in Kot Khawaja Saeed and took away Rs100,000.

Three armed men snatched Rs 95,000 from Khushnood Ahmad, while two armed men deprived Muhammad Asif of his two-wheeler and shot him when he put up resistance.

Thieves lifted two motorcycles from the limits of Nishtar Colony and Shalimar and as many cars from Faisal Town and Hanjarwal. roof collapse: A minor died and another injured in separate roof collapse incidents in the Lower Mall area here on Tuesday.

The roof of Muzammil Husain’s house collapsed in Gulshan Riaz Colony as a result of which his daughter Sawera, 4, was killed.

The roof of an adjacent house, belonging to Afzal Sattar, was also caved in. Sattar’s 14-year old son Abbas was injured.—Staff Reporter
