Mardan flood relief

MARDAN, Sept 5: A Turkish non-governmental organisation distributed more than 60 tons of food items among flood-affected people here on Tuesday.

The relief distribution ceremony was held at a private school in the Par Hoti area. The function was organised by the Al-Khidmat Foundation of Jamaat-i-Islami, Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, the incharge of Lighthouse Association of Turkey, Mr Habibullah, said that more relief assistance would be extended to the flood-hit people in Mardan. He said that food items worth Rs40 million would be distributed among the affected people in Mardan and Charsadda districts in the next phase of the programme.

Mr Habibullah said every food package distributed among the affected people contained 40kg flour, 25kg rice, 5kg pulses, 5kg sugar, 5kg ghee, 5kg beans, 1kg tea and 3kg salt.

He said the NGO was working for the last eight months.
