Doctors told not to refer patients to private labs
PESHAWAR, Sept 5: Lady Reading Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Subooh Bacha has called for a change in the attitude of doctors and paramedical staff to ensure better health care for people.
Speaking at a meeting of registrars at the PGMI Auditorium on Tuesday, he advised doctors against the practice of sending patients to private laboratories for tests, saying that all such facilities were available in the government hospitals.
He said it was the duty of the hospital administration to provide timely treatment to patients and fully utilise facilities given for the general public by the government.
He said he would regularly visit various wards of the hospital to keep a vigilant eye on the performance of the staff.
He said incompetent and absent staff would be dealt with sternly and negligence of duty would not be tolerated.
He said a registrar was responsible for the performance of his unit and solve its problems.—APP
