PESHAWAR: Man sentenced to life term for killing wife
PESHAWAR, Sept 5: A single-member bench of the Peshawar High Court on Monday awarded an accused life term, enhancing the sentence of 14 years of imprisonment given by a lower court.
Farooq Ahmed had been charged with murdering his wife over a domestic dispute about two years ago.
The bench, headed by Justice Qasim Jan Khan, after hearing arguments from both sides, turned down the accused’s appeal seeking acquittal and allowed the appeal of the petitioner’s heirs to enhance the accused’s sentence.
The prosecution’s counsel contended that the accused had been convicted after having been found guilty of the murder.—APP
