KARACHI: Doctors to be posted at place of domicile
KARACHI, Sept 5: Sindh Health Minister Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani has announced that doctors of the disbanded Sindh School Health Services would be appointed at their respective residence of origin as shown in their domiciles.
He was addressing at a ceremony organised to hand over ambulances to the Sindh Government Qatar Hospital on Monday evening.
Announcing that fresh induction would be made in the department and services of additional doctors would be hired, the minister said that school health service had been disbanded and doctors relieved from the programme would be accommodated in different health care facilities in accordance to their respective domiciles.
The minister reiterated the government commitment to improve working condition for healthcare professionals. He said it was during the last 13 months that the provincial government approved the service structure of at least 35,000 paramedics.
According to him, it was since 1979 that promotions of doctor, on the pay-roll of Sindh Government, had been stalled under varied pretext and the present government taking note of it settled the issue. Doctors working for years in the same grade were promoted to the next and summary for promotion of those in special cadre had also been sent to the Sindh Chief Minister, he said.
As for nurses, he said it was during his tenure that 1,789 nurses were placed at part with their counterparts in other provinces.
The minister claimed it was for the first time in the history of Sindh that 112 ambulances were simultaneously distributed among all Sindh government hospitals across the province.
Expressing his serious reservation regarding hygienic conditions in hospitals, he urged administrators and medical superintendents to realize their responsibility.—APP
