Sialkot to play Uttar Pradesh

Published September 5, 2006

NEW DELHI, Sept 4: Domestic first-class champion teams from India and Pakistan will clash in a four-day cricket match later this month, organisers said on Monday. The match between India's Ranji Trophy winners Uttar Pradesh and Pakistan's Quaid-e-Azam Trophy champions Sialkot will be held in the northern Indian hill town of Dharamsala from Sept 19-22.

It will be the first time the rival champions from both sides of the border will test their strength against each other in a first-class game.

Uttar Pradesh will be without captain Mohammad Kaif, Suresh Raina and Rudra Pratap Singh, who will be away on India duty at the Malaysia tri-series against Australia and the West Indies from Sept 12-24.—AFP
