Opposition to continue NA boycott

ISLAMABAD, Sept 3: The combined opposition in the National Assembly will continue boycott of lower house of parliament when it resumes its proceedings after a two-day weekly recess today (Monday).

The opposition had walked out of the house on Friday when Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain decided to allow equal number of treasury and opposition legislators to speak on the military operation in Balochistan, the killing of Jamhoori Watan Party chief Nawab Akbar Bugti and his burial under official arrangements.

The opposition leaders said the coalition legislators had been given the task to sabotage the debate on the issue to subdue the country-wide agitation against the use of brutal force in Balochistan.

The combined opposition, sources said, is determined to keep on protesting over the issue at all forums, including both houses of parliament as it has requisitioned Senate session.

An opposition source said some of the opposition members would go into the assembly on Monday to stage walkout after speaking on the issue and exposing dangers looming for the country’s solidarity after Mr Bugti’s assassination.
