COLOMBO, Sept 2: India on Saturday reacted strongly to former Pakistan High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Bashir Wali Mohammed’s allegation that the Indian spy agency, the Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) was behind an attempt to kill him last month in Colombo.

“This is preposterous. Its an absurd allegation”, spokesperson for the Indian High Commission in Colombo, Nagma Malik said after Mr Mohammed in an interview with the Islamabad based magazine The Post stated RAW was responsible for the bomb explosion that killed seven persons, including four Sri Lankan military personnel giving him protection. Bashir, director-general of the Pakistan Intelligence Bureau, narrowly escaped the mine attack.
