DERA GHAZI KHAN, Sept 2: A no-confidence motion against the Bast Fauja union council nazim succeeded on Saturday with nine votes cast against and only three in favour.

The voting was held on the direction of the Chief Election Commission while a notification in this regard will be issued after the accomplishment of the process.

According to reports, Basti Fauja Nazim Dr Saeed Buzdar, affiliated with the PPP, have some differences with district nazim Maqsood Khan Leghari. Dr Buzdar had arranged a meeting of union council nazims to get united against the district nazim some three months ago.

Union council Naib Nazim Zulfiqar Khosa had moved a no-trust against Dr Saeed Buzdar.

Returning officer and senior civil judge Rashid Ahmed and Dera assistant election commissioner Nadeem Zubair Warraich conducted the no-confidence process through a secret ballot.

It may be mentioned that the nazim and two members did not turn up for voting.

AEC Nadeem Zubair said that through an amendment made in 2005, it was not required to get votes from village councils and other tiers while no-confidence of the house was enough.

On the other hand, UC Nazim Dr Saeed Buzdar claimed that it was an illegal move and that he would move the court.
