Seven die in separate incidents

ISLAMABAD, Sept 2: Seven persons including two minor girls were killed in different incidents in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad during the last 24 hours, the police said.

A woman and her two daughters were killed while four other persons suffered multiple injuries when a mini-bus overturned after ramming into a vehicle on I.J. Principal Road late Friday night.

According to the police, the mini-bus (LZJ-6072) was going towards Pirwadhai from Faizabad when it collided with a car parked on the roadside near the FIA Rawalpindi office. After the crash, the bus overturned.

As a result seven passengers travelling in the vehicle suffered multiple injures. They were shifted to a nearby hospital where Shahida Perveen, a resident of Abbottabad, and her two daughters - Shiza Bashir (5) and Rabail Bashir (4) - died after succumbing to their injuries.

The injured were identified as Mohammad Shakeel, Mohammad Akber, Mehmoodur Rehman and Habib Wali.

In another incident, an unidentified man was killed after being hit by a World Health Organisation (WHO) vehicle here on Saturday.

The man who appears to be in his 40s suffered multiple injuries when the speeding vehicle (UN-68-776) hit him on Margalla Road in the jurisdiction of Shalimar police station.

The injured was shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences where he was pronounced dead. Later, the body was shifted to mortuary for pending identification and legal process. The police arrested the driver, Jahangir Butt, and also impounded the vehicle.

A motorcyclist, Razi Khan (27), was killed after a truck hit his bike at Nogazi in Tarnol police limits, adds APP.

Staff Reporter From Pindi Adds: A teenage girl was shot dead by her uncle in the jurisdiction of Chontra police, while an 11- year-old girl was killed in a traffic accident in Pirwadhai on Saturday.

Fiza Batool, 18, was shot dead by her uncle, Zafar Abbas, who believed that his niece had allegedly developed illicit relations. After firing at his niece with a rifle, the accused escaped from the scene.

In another incident, Tahreem Bibi was killed after being run over by a speeding car in Pirwadhai area. The 11-year-old girl along with her grandmother was stepping out of a rickshaw when the car hit her. Tahreem was killed on the spot while her grandmother remained unhurt.
