Published September 3, 2006

KARACHI, Sept 2: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has asked the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) not to initiate new uplift projects before Ramazan and try to complete the ongoing ones before the holy month to facilitate citizens.

Speaking at a meeting at the Civic Centre on Saturday, he instructed the KWSB to ensure round-the-clock work on the ongoing projects scheduled to be completed in two to three months time period.

He asked the KWSB to ensure 100 per cent collection of its taxes. On the occasion, the meeting was briefed that water and sewerage projects had been started in Landhi industrial area, while storm water drains were being constructed and sewerage lines changed so as to cope with the problem of rainwater accumulation in the future.

Meanwhile, the KWSB in cooperation with the KESC temporarily repaired a 28-inch diameter sewerage pipeline near the Government Polytechnic College for Women F B Area.—PPI
