Wapda thrash NWFP

LAHORE, Sept 1: Six goals by Azra Nasir and four by Neelma Hassan enabled Wapda to crush NWFP 18-0 in the opening match of the Quaid-i-Azam women’s gold Cup at the National Hockey Stadium on Friday.

Azra also completed a hat trick. Besides Azra and Neelma the other scorers for the winners were Beenish, Aqeela Naseem and Ayesha Arif, who scored two each while Lina Afroze and Saba Saeed chipped in with a goal each.

Three-goal Amna Mir helped Punjab thrash Sindh 8-2.

The winners gained 5-0 lead in the first session of play. Sidra struck twice while Tehmina, Saima and Razia added one goal each.

For the losers, Sonia Zuberi and Sana Shahid shared the scoring honour.

In the last match, Railway registered 7-0 triumph over Lahore with Shahida, Zakia Gul, Ayesha Ashar, Ayesha Bashir, Nausheen Arif, Irum Bukhari and Ishrat Fatima scoring one goal each.
