SWABI, Sept 1: Kidnappers of three men of the Mian village have demanded a ransom of Rs4 million from their families for their release.

Family members of the victims said here on Friday that Aftab, son of the late police inspector Iqbal Hussain, Asad and Bilal Said had been kidnapped four days ago.

They said the kidnappers had made telephone calls to the victims’ families and demanded the amount for their release.

They said they had registered an FIR with the Nowshera police. They said they were also negotiating with the kidnappers to reduce the ransom amount.

They said Aftab, Asad and Bilal had been kidnapped from the Maini chowk. But the local police said the three men had been taken away from somewhere in Peshawar and refused to register an FIR.

The family members had to register the case with the Nowshera police.

Meanwhile, a jirga and members of the district council expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Swabi.

They called upon the government to take immediate measures steps to protect lives and property of the people. They urged police to launch a campaign against criminals in the district.
