KARACHI, Aug 31: Unseeded Chandril Sood and Ronak Mahesh Manuja, both from India, stormed into the boys’ singles final of the ITF Pakistan World Junior Ranking tennis championship (second leg) at Islamabad Club on Thursday.

Sood downed Shiva Sangwan 6-4, 6-4 while Manuja gave a 6-0, 6-3 drubbing to Rahul Balwal in the All-Indian pre-finals.

The 15-year-old Sood who toppled Khurram Nazir in absorbing three-set battle the other day overcame a stiff challenge from his opponent by hitting powerful forehand and backhand drives from the baseline.

Similarly, fresh from his triumph against second seed Ryan Cheung, unseeded Manuja continued his winning run by disposing off fourth seed opponent with ease in straight sets.

The twin Sood brothers — Chandril and Lakshit teamed up to beat the pair of Ronak Mahesh Manuja — Muddappa Appanervanda 6-1, 6-7(2), 6-4 to made it to the boys’ doubles final. They meet Ryan Cheung - Krittanu Puthong who in the other semi-final got the better of Mansingh Athare — Vishesh Deepak Bhatia in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

The girls’ singles final will be an All-Thailand affair after top seed Prariyawat Ratanakrong and fourth seed Parichart Charoensukployphol romped home in their respective semi-finals.

While Parichart chalked up an upset 6-1, 6-4 victory over second seed Vishakha Sheoran, Prariyawat beat Karina Ahuja 7-5, 6-3 in well contested match lasting 90-minutes.
