KARACHI: Two youth kidnapped, shot dead

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 31: Two young men were killed after being kidnapped by unknown persons, and their bodies were found in the limits of Gulberg police station early Thursday morning.

Police said Babar Ali and Mohammad Aslam, both friends and residents of Liaquatabad, borrowed a motorcycle for an outing, but they did not turn up.

SHO Gulberg said Babar was a garment factory worker and Aslam was associated with the work of artificial jewelry.

On Thursday morning, bodies of the two friends were found dumped in a ground near APWA College. The victims were shot in the head and chest, police said.

“We are trying to ascertain if the victims belonged to any political party or had any other affiliation”, the SHO said.

KILLED: A head-constable was shot dead by armed suspects who were trying to break a police cordon in Site area on Thursday. TPO Site told Dawn that on Wednesday a car was snatched in the limits of Gizri police station.

The car was spotted in Site area on Thursday noon and police started chasing it. Another mobile of the Site town created a blockade at the Nauras Chowrangi.

After being trapped, the occupants of the car opened fire on the police as a result of which head constable Mohammad Shaukat suffered a bullet wound to his chest, causing his instant death.

“The police also returned the fire wounding the occupants of the car, but they managed to escape as driver of the car apparently remained unhurt”, TPO Site Javed Akbar said.

The suspects were probably heading towards Hub to dispose of the car, the TPO added.
