KARACHI: Education festival in Malir draws huge crowd

KARACHI, Aug 31: Speaking at the concluding session of a week-long education festival, organised by different union councils of Malir Town at RCD Ground, City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jaleel lauded the band display and other extracurricular activities by students from various government and private schools of the town.

Prior to the event, all the union councils separately organised various programmes in their jurisdictions between Aug 22 and 28 in which students took an active part.

Earlier, children presented national songs, tableaus, and took keen interest in comedy and variety shows which were warmly applauded by the participants comprising teachers, students and parents of students.

In the presence of nazims of other towns, Nasreen Jaleel proposed that inter-town competitions be also organised among the students of Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal and Malir towns so that a better environment of competition could develop.

She said that the event provided the children a chance to express their love for the motherland, and to show their hidden talents.

On this occasion, it was informed that the Malir town administration had decided to award scholarships to all position holders in primary sections in government schools and the town would also distribute diaries among students for which an amount of Rs5,000,000 had been allocated.

Later, Hasan Jahangir, Salim Afridi, Yunus and other artistes enthralled the audience and presented national songs. Town Nazim Ansar Sheikh and Naib Nazim Sharafat Ali also spoke.

On this occasion, winners of various competitions from various union councils were awarded shields and other prizes.
