Butter Fly looks set for grand win today
KARACHI, Aug 30: Four-year-old chestnut filly, Butter Fly, is likely to make amends by assuming the role of a champion in the feature event of the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Thursday.
After completing a hat trick she was beaten by Sea Wave by eight lengths on July 23 and finished off the board in her last two appearances.
Drawn in a small field of six aspirants in the five furlongs fifth race of the day she still enjoys an edge and start as our day’s best. Her likely challengers are four-year-old bay colt Jawan Bakht and bay mare Velvet Green.
A card of seven races all going over a sprinting distance of five furlongs has been chalked out for the day. The first race begins at 2.00pm.
If tried by connections, three-year-old chestnut filly, Abhi Abhi, should also make amends to her dismal run by sprinting to victory. She had three wins under belt this year.
Her stablemate Aie Bahar who has failed to catch the eye in the recent past is also in the pack of six runners and can create scare. Abhi Abhi should be chased by Thanks Naeem and Red Rufus for the places on board.
Queen Of Mirwa, a three-year-old bay filly, is tipped to oblige punters by galloping to victory. She was edged out by public fancy Dil Phaink in her last outing by four lengths.
Also in contention are Champion Express and Your Honour. However, Trust Again had the potential to upset the apple cart.
Three-year-old bay colt, Fight For Fame, is fancied to pick up spoils by overcoming Sweet Grandy and Fizza. The performance of Al Zarrar should be watched.
Chestnut Lucky Five is our fancy in the opener. He finished second behind Gold Tip last Sunday.
However, he has to prove his mettle by overcoming Flying Prince and Yanga. King Of The Field, if allowed to run on merit, may pull off an upset.
Filly In Her Shoes should have to bring about her best to clinch honours. She is drawn alongside 12 contenders. Also vying for top slot are Ultimate Victory and Go Piyaray.
Sea Of Love can bring an element of surprise.
Three horses are in the running to claim honours in the sixth race of the day. They are Make Millions, Annaba and Deniro. Off them, Make Millions is fancied to return with flying colours.
