Hindko poet passes away

PESHAWAR, Aug 30: Gandhara Hindko Board has expressed grief over the death of veteran Hindko poet Mohammad Ahraf Ulfat Rohaila. The poet died here on Monday night.

The organisation has urged the Pakistan Academy of Letters and NWFP Cultural Department to extend financial help to the poet’s family.

Meanwhile, the funeral procession of the deceased was taken out from his residence at Haider Colony, near Choona Bhatti, on Tuesday and the body was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard.

A large number of relatives, friends and Hindko poets, writers and researchers attended the funeral.

Mr Rohaila was a seasoned Hindko poet who was famous for Harfis, a genre of Hindko poetry.—APP
