ISLAMABAD, Aug 30: A cell should be created to seek repatriation of Pakistanis with illegal status languishing in foreign jails in coordination with Pakistani missions abroad. This was recommended by the Inter-Ministerial Preparatory Conference for the UN high-level dialogue on international migration and development, which concluded here on Wednesday.
It was recommended that a data bank should be developed in Pakistan to keep information of Pakistanis living abroad including trends of regular migration from Pakistan.
According to the summary of recommendations adopted by the moot, it was stressed that migration in Pakistan should be managed comprehensively through adoption of an integrated policy, supported by appropriate legislation and an implementing mechanism. It should be viewed from a right-based approach. Migration should be safe and beneficial for all stakeholders.—Our Reporter
