Protest rallies in Sindh towns: Killing of Akbar Bugti

NAWABSHAH, Aug 29: Members of the District Bar Association on Tuesday boycotted court proceedings in protest against the killing of Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti. They offered ‘gaibana’ Namaz-i-Janaza of the late leader in the session court.

Termed the killing extra-judicial, Bar president Rahim Bux Jamali demanded that the chief justice of the supreme court should take suo motu notice and issue orders for registration of an FIR against the killers.

Qazi Mohammad Saleh, Ali Mohammad Dahri and Anwar Shaikh also spoke on the occasion.

Residents of Nawab Wali Mohammad took out a procession in protest against the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti.

The procession started from the National Highway and ended at the press club.

Ali Sher Umrani and Mansoor Lakho led the protesters.

The protesters carried placards and raised slogans against the government.

They demanded that the government should hand over the body to their relatives for burial.

Members of the Nawabshah district council offered fateha for the departed soul at the council meeting.

Convenor Abdul Haq Jamali presided over the meeting.

Syed Munir Shah condemned the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti.

He said that Zulfiqar Bhutto, Mir Murtaza and Nawab Akbar had been killed by agencies and hundreds of democratic people and nationalist party workers in Sindh and Balochistan had also been made disappeared by agencies.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: On the call of Baloch Ittehad, a complete strike was observed in Naushahro Feroze in protest against the killing of Jamhoori Watan Party chief Nawab Akbar Bugti.

Shahi Bazaar, Main market, Padidan road and Resham Gali remained closed to mourn the death of Baloch leader.

A demonstration was held at the Tharushah chowk.

Sher Mohammad Magsi, Mujtaba Mari and Ramzan Mari of the Baloch Ittehad strongly condemned the killing of Baloch leader.

HYDERABAD: Lawyers of the Hyderabad district took out a procession from the sessions court to the press club on Tuesday.

They condemned the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti.

Hyderabad District Bar Association president Chaudhry Bashir Gujjar led the protesters.

The lawyers raised slogans against the government.

They said that the Baloch leader was a patriot and he had been gunned down in a targeted killing.

They said that he played an important role when Balochistan joined Pakistan after the creation of the country.

They condemned the army operation in Balochistan and called for putting an end to it.

They demanded that an action should be taken against personnel responsible for the Kolhu incident.

Fazal Qadir Memon and Ayaz Tunio spoke on the occasion.

JACOBABAD: The District Bar Association and Sindh Taraqi Passand Party took out processions in protest against the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti.

The lawyers started procession from the Bar office and after marching through different roads reached the press club.

They observed a token hunger strike.

DBA president Anwar Jakhrani, Saeed Panhwar, Bilawal Buriro, Ahmed Nawaz Pechuho and Sattar Attar led the protesters.

Sindh Taraqi Passand Party took out a procession from the STP office.

The protesters marched on roads of town. Ali Mohammad Lashari and Dil Murad Lashari led the protesters.

KHAIRPUR: The PML-N held a protest meeting at the residence of its Sindh president Ghous Ali Shah.

Office-bearers and workers attended the meeting.

The meeting condemned the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti.

The meeting said that Balochistan had been deprived of a senior political leader.

PPP leader Comrade Bashir Mallah also condemned Nawab Bugti’s killing.

He said that the Nawab would remain alive through his political struggle.

DROWNED: A young man drowned here late on Monday evening.

Qaimuddin Korai was swimming across the Indus river to his village when he drowned near Razidero taluka Sobhodero due to strong water waves of river.

His body was fished out on Tuesday.
