71 uplift schemes approved

BAHAWALPUR, Aug 29: The district development committee on Tuesday approved 71 schemes of construction of roads, water supply, drainage and village electrification worth Rs110 million.

The committee, in a meeting here, sanctioned Rs80 million for 43 schemes of the construction of new roads and repair of old roads, Rs10 million for 21 projects of Bahawalpur TMA. It also sanctioned three schemes of health department costing Rs3.5 million, which included installation of dialysis machines worth Rs1.4 million at Ahmedpur East THQ hospital.

Funds have also been provided for electrification of 21 villages.

OPEN COURT: DPO Arif Nawaz has ordered Musafirkhana police to arrest the rapists of Parveen within 12 hours.

The orders were issued by the DPO at an open kutchery held at Musafirkhana, about 20 kilometers from here on Tuesday.

It was complained at the kutchery that police had not so far arrested the accused despite passage of several days.

On another complaint, the DPO granted a week’s time for the recovery of the niece of one Akbar Ali Bhatti and arrest of the accused.

He also took serious notice of the complaints of thefts and robberies in the area and warned police officials of strict action if failed to arrest the criminals.

DISTINCTION: Muhammad Ahmad Bashir secured 10 As in the Cambridge O-Level Examinations, 2006.
