186 relief camps for rain-affected people set up

MIRPURKHAS, Aug 29: The district nazim of Mirpurkhas, Dr Sughra Junejo, has said that 186 relief camps have been set up in the district to accommodate rain-affected people and packets of ration were being distributed among them.

She was speaking at a meeting of taluka, UC nazims and district officers here on Tuesday. It assessed losses of heavy rains and relief work.

The district naib nazim Dr Zafar Kamali, DCO Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, DPO Abdullah Shaikh and district officers were also present on the occasion.

She said that over Rs6 million have so far been spent on relief work by the district government while Rs10 million, announced by chief minister of Sindh, have been received for utilisation of relief work.

She said that 26 medical teams were working in district and the number would increase to 50.

She said that these teams comprised army, UC nazims and officers for distribution of relief work for transparency.

She said that she herself was visiting different talukas daily and distributing tents and ration. She said that 13,000 packets, 700 tents, 1700 covers and 42 water pumping machines had been distributed.

The district nazim maintained that NGOs and philanthropists were taking part in relief work.
