QUETTA, Aug 29: Four Marri commanders along with their 2,000 supporters surrendered to the government in a ceremony held at Thadri, some 100 kilometres from Kohlu, on Tuesday, official sources said.

They handed over their arms to the local administration and announced their support to the government.

The commanders include Gazini Marri, Bakht Ali Sherani Marri, Kari Khan Marri and Rubab Goryani Marri.

Speaking on the occasion, the commanders said that they were fighting against the government at the behest of Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri and his sons.

“We were misguided by the Nawab and his sons, but now we come to know that we were being used as a tool by them,” they said, adding that they were fully satisfied with the government’s development plans in Balochistan.—APP
